Conductor drive shoes CIS designs and manufactures a full range of conductor drive shoes to suit the installation of any size of conductor. We have special expertise in deviated directional driving of conductors, and we are actively working on an innovative drive shoe to enhance this key aspect of our operations. A full range of drive shoes
Standard drive shoe The wall thickness of standard drive shoes is in larger than the rest of the conductor to provide extra strength to the weakest part of the string. This reduces the risk of the shoe collapsing because the drive shoe takes all the driving forces. Deviated directional drive shoe The deviated directional shoe is an 8-ft section of the conductor that is welded to the shoe joint with pre-determined settings agreed between the customer and CIS. The azimuth bars along the shoe prevent it from corkscrewing during driving. Taper cut shoe Taper cut shoes are used for directional driving but do not have the same control features and capabilities as deviated drive shoes. Closed-end drive shoe Our closed-end drive shoes are made from a special composite material and are designed to withstand the driving forces of the hammer. Using a closed-end shoe removes the problems associated with a soil plug and therefore offers many benefits, including being able to undertake a gyro survey without a requirement for cleaning deeper driving than conventional shoes, as there is no soil friction on the inside of the conductor zero discharge. We are able to offer the complete design and manufacture of these shoes to the joints ready for driving. Deep-penetration shoe Our purpose-built deep-penetration shoes have a proven track record and are designed specifically for driving into deeper areas. During driving, the shoe disturbs the surrounding rock formations, which means it can be set deeper. Another advantage is the ability to breakdown chalk formations during the driving process. Conductor drive chasers (drive subs) We design and manufacture, for sale or rent, a range of conductor drive chasers (drive subs) to protect the conductor during any kind of hammering operation. Conductor whipstocksCIS supplies conductor whipstocks for use in platform slot recovery operations. We are strongly supported by specialist engineers from UWG, another Acteon company, in the design of these important items of equipment. Sleeve reducers Our sleeve reducers are designed to enable the hammer to drive in a more vertical position on the pile than conventional shims allow. Another advantage is the much lower noise level whilst driving. In addition, there is less chance of collapsing a connection, which may happen when using shims. Forged joints CIS manufactures forged joints to a very high quality and specification from a single piece of steel. They have no joints or welds. The joints must have a deviation of less than 1 mm in 1 m to ensure vertical driving. The joints can be machined to any client requirement, for any connection or drive shoe fitment and in any grade of steel. All our forged joints undergo strict quality control and have to pass high quality standards before being released offsite. |
